Sermon Series: Nice: Why We Love to be Liked and How God Calls Us to More
Niceness keeps the peace, wins friends, gains influence, and serves our reputations well, but it also takes the teeth out of our witness and the power out of our faith. Based on the book by Pastor Sharon Hodde Miller, this series explores the seemingly innocent idol that has crept into our faith and quietly corrupted it.
Today’s Sermon: Rotten: The Fruit of Corruption
Scripture: James 1: 2-5, 19-22
As we noted last week, niceness can function like a Trojan Horse, providing cover for something terrible within. This is something we battle both within ourselves and in our relationships with others – particularly those who are nice to us. The way we root out this bad fruit is through wisdom and discernment.
